While donations are immensely helpful to us (and tax-deductible for you), and we’d be nowhere if people weren’t willing to be interviewed, Set Ready is on the lookout for dedicated, talented people to help grow our organization into something much bigger and better.
We all have full-time jobs and families outside of Set Ready, and manage to slowly cobble together what you see over nights and weekends. We have enormous hopes and ideas for what we’d like Set Ready to become, but we can’t do it on our own, and need other people to help us make it a reality.
As of now, Set Ready is just getting started, and these are all unpaid positions.
Editor in Chief / Lead Editor
We’re seeking a lead editor to help form Set Ready’s voice; establish guidelines for our written content; recruit, mentor and manage editorial staff; and help steer the course for Set Ready’s editorial content moving forward. Apart from one of us having worked at an online news startup several years ago, we have no clue what we’re doing, and need someone who shares our passion for learning about new people and telling their stories.
Currently, our designer is also acting as our developer, which waters down both the design and the code. We need someone well-versed in WordPress, HTML, and SASS, to take ownership of coding our custom theme. As Set Ready grows, we will want to add more security measures in place, and establish appropriate permission schemas to prevent a well-meaning writer from accidentally nuking the site. We’d also love to evolve to a SPA, just because they’re cool, but we’ll let you make that decision.
Believe it or not, the original idea behind Set Ready was for the content to be videos. But after months of staring at each other with confused looks, we concluded that we were in over our heads, and shifted to written interviews. We think there’s definitely a place for our written content, but our next big step will likely be dipping our toes into videos.
If any of these sounds up your alley, please send your résumé and a brief introductory email to email@example.com, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
